Job Summary
Plan, develop, and implement all residence activities while creating ideas to improve and expand the Activities Program. Maintain warm, caring relationships with residents and families, arranging transportation and escorts for community outings. Assist residents with store operations, maintain department supplies within budget, and support volunteer programs. Manage monthly newsletters and weekly calendars, driving residents in a van as needed. Perform dual tasks and work independently while attending required training sessions. Requires a valid driver's license, computer literacy, and experience in recreational therapy or gerontology. Part-time schedule includes Fridays and Saturdays (24-29 hours) with a wage band of $18.50-$21.50 per hour.
Required Qualifications
- The ability to assist in the development and implementation of activities required
- The ability to create interest in the activities and motivate residents to participate daily
- Creativity and motivational skills
- The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
- Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet, database managers presentation software and Calendar/Newsletter software
- A valid drivers license in the state of work
- no more than two moving violations in a three year period
- Must be able to lift a minimum of fifteen (15) lbs.
- Must be able to carry objects
- Must be able to push and pull carts
- Must be able to continuously walk, sit and stand
- Must be able to turn, crouch, kneel, stoop, bend below waist, and reach above shoulder height
Desired Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Previous experience in the recreational therapy or related field
- Gerontology experience
