Job Summary
Greet members and guests at the welcome desk, process membership transactions and program registrations in Active, and conduct facility tours to assess needs and follow up on inquiries. Handle phone calls regarding membership and program information, file necessary paperwork, and assist with reservations for wellness center orientations. Complete all Member Specialist I position requirements within 60 days of hire, including relationship-building activities and member appreciation initiatives. Report suspicious activity and maintain a clean, organized facility.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 17 years of age
- High school graduate or equivalent
- At least 1-year previous customer service experience
- Broad overview of the YMCA as it operates as a local, national and international movement
- Must have completed Intro to Y's Cause & Culture training
- Must have completed Ys Way to Service & Engagement training
- Must have completed I Hear You: Service with CARE training
- Must be working towards meeting the criteria of the Member Specialist I position within 60 days of hire date
- Must complete Foundations of Listen First with Listen First Skills Assessment
- Must complete Get SMART training
- Must complete Three Keys to Successful Family Engagement training
- Must complete Living our Cause for Frontline Leaders training
- Must complete Cause Driven Tour Workshop with Post Workshop Evaluation
- Must complete Active.net Skills Assessment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Personal computer and data entry knowledge
- Must type 30 words per minute
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Organizational skills
- Positive attitude
- Must be capable of remaining professional when dealing with members/ customers and co-workers
- Must possess auditory, visual and verbal abilities to communicate via phone and in person
- Must be capable of operating standard office equipment
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time
- Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity
- Must be able to receive and follow detailed instructions
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Desired Qualifications
- College degree with emphasis in Marketing or Communications
- CPR, AED and First Aid certification
