Job Summary
Membership Experience Staff at the YMCA focuses on delivering outstanding member experiences at the Welcome Center: greeting and checking in members and guests by name as they scan in, giving facility tours to current and prospective members, processing membership and program paperwork, answering multi-line phones, replenishing supplies, maintaining the cleanliness of the area, and ensuring a safe environment per the Emergency Operations Plan. The role requires strong customer service, communication, and math skills for handling memberships, payments, and YMCA software operations, plus active participation in YMCA fundraising efforts. Responsibilities include modeling YMCA values (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility), supporting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and adhering to department standards, mandated reporting requirements, and training commitments. CPR/First Aid/ AED/O2/CAP certification within 60 days, prior trainings, and background checks are required; benefits include retirement, YMCA membership, and opportunities for professional growth.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age 16
- YMCA experience in member services, program, or related field preferred
- Ability to interface with basic software and phone systems
- Ability to perform math to manage money and accounting in YMCA software
- Business professional communication skills
- Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2/CAP within 60 days of hire
- Complete and maintain trainings: New Employee Orientation, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Sexual Harassment
- Satisfactory background check and Child Protective Services check
