Member of Technical Staff, TLM: Research Scientist
On-siteLondon, England, United Kingdom or Palo Alto, California, United States
Job Summary
Define and drive original research into foundational open problems of world modeling, including temporal coherence, causal reasoning, and long-horizon prediction. Move beyond diffusion and transformer paradigms by designing novel architectures, learning objectives, and training frameworks that reframe generative interactive video capabilities. Build and mentor a small, high-output research group, guiding work from hypothesis through experimental validation to prototype demonstration. Translate these breakthroughs into stable prototypes in close collaboration with engineering, focusing on genuinely new capabilities rather than incremental improvements. Publish at top-tier venues like NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR while actively engaging the broader research community to help shape the field's direction.
Required Qualifications
- Staff-level or senior ML researcher
- Strong publication record in generative modeling, video synthesis, multimodal learning, or adjacent areas
- Experience leading or mentoring a small research group
- Track record of taking projects from open question to publication or deployment
- Comfortable in a focused, autonomous lab environment
Desired Qualifications
- Works from first principles: defines the problem before reaching for a method
- Builds minimal systems to prove what's possible before scaling
- Motivated by understanding: cares about why models work, not just that they do
- Excited to help establish the scientific foundation of a new medium
