Job Summary
Cloud-scale platform engineer role focusing on owning and executing the roadmap for agent-driven cloud infrastructure management, designing and operating the cloud networking fabric (VPC, private connectivity, hyperscaler peering), and architecting scalable compute platforms (Kubernetes/EKS, autoscaling, mixed CPU/GPU fleets) across multi-region deployments. Responsible for secure, isolated deployment topologies (multi-tenant, BYOC, on‐prem), multi-region strategies (availability, failover, data locality), disaster recovery playbooks, and enterprise controls (BYOK/KMS integrations, auditability). Develop automation, tooling, and runbooks for day-2 operations across environments, collaborating with security for enterprise-grade controls, and contributing to continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure for Perplexity products serving both consumer and large enterprise customers.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of industry experience building and operating production cloud infrastructure
- Deep experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure on AWS (VPC design, routing, security groups, load balancing)
- Strong background with Kubernetes/EKS and container orchestration (multi-cluster, multi-region, multi-account)
- Hands-on experience with cloud networking and peering (VPC peering, Transit Gateway, private link/service endpoints)
- Experience building or operating secure, isolated environments for enterprise customers (single-tenant, BYOC, or on-prem), BYOK/KMS integrations and compliance constraints
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and programming in Python, Go, or Rust
- Strong debugging and incident management across distributed systems
- Experience leading design of complex systems or migrations (7+ years)
