Job Summary
Foundry Melt Technician responsible for operating and maintaining melting equipment to produce molten iron for casting. Duties include charging and operating electric induction furnaces, monitoring temperature and chemistry specifications, transferring molten iron to ladles, removing slag and performing quality checks, obtaining iron samples for quality testing, and maintaining furnaces, shakers, magnets, and related equipment. The role requires routine maintenance/support, adherence to safety and production procedures, and potential involvement in furnace relining and startup procedures. Also includes maintaining a clean, organized work area and performing other duties as assigned in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Successful completion of required math and utility assessments
- Ability to obtain and maintain a forklift certification
- Basic math and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work safely around industrial equipment and molten metal
- Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physical activities including standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling throughout the workday
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
- Reliable attendance and effective communication skills
