Job Summary
Operate and maintain a plasma arc furnace by following standard operating procedures, performing pre-operational inspections, and adjusting torch patterns while monitoring vacuum, plasma, and helium systems. Load raw materials, execute melting and casting operations, and unload ingots, ensuring accurate production logs are maintained. Conduct routine maintenance including furnace cleaning, component changes, and vacuum system testing, while troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues. Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to handle heavy rigging and materials in a hot, physically demanding industrial environment. Work a 12-hour rotating night shift (5:00 PM - 5:00 AM) on a 4-on/3-off schedule with occasional overtime in Salisbury, NC.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to learn technical processes and equipment operation
- Basic math skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
- Ability to read and interpret operating procedures and technical documents
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and rotating schedules as needed
- Ability to wear a respirator
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to work in confined spaces and industrial environments
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of manufacturing, industrial, furnace, maintenance, welding, or mechanical experience
- Furnace, melt shop, foundry, casting, or metals manufacturing experience
- Trade school training or technical certification
- Forklift and overhead crane experience
- Welding, soldering, fabrication, or maintenance experience
