Job Summary
Design and develop network architectures and protocols to safely interconnect simulators with operational systems, focusing on DIS, HLA, and scalability for autonomous platforms. Collaborate with software developers and domain experts to create innovative solutions for national and international stakeholders, translating user requirements into concrete implementations. Manage robust, scalable network environments and experiment with wargaming and simulation contexts while supporting future deep dives into military aviation operations. Contribute to the development of both existing and new simulation networks within a multidisciplinary team at NLR's Training & Simulation department.
Required Qualifications
- Afgeronde bachelor of master opleiding in ICT, Computer Science, Informatica, Informatiekunde, of vergelijkbaar
- Minstens 8 jaar relevante werkervaring
- Minstens 5 jaar ervaring op het gebied van netwerktechnologie, TCP/UDP, netwerkprotocollen, routering, switching en netwerkbeveiliging
- Beheersing van meerdere programmeertalen zoals C, C++, C#, Java en ervaring in scripting
- Interesse in experimenteren, wargaming en simulatie in een R&D-context
- Ervaring met het ontwerpen en beheren van robuuste, schaalbare netwerkomgevingen
- Bereidheid om je te verdiepen in (militaire) luchtvaartoperaties
- Nederlandse en Engelse taalvaardigheid (mondeling en schriftelijk)
- Een positieve uitkomst van een veiligheidsonderzoek (VGB)
Desired Qualifications
- Ervaring met of interesse in simulatie- en interoperabiliteitsprotocollen (DIS/HLA/FOMs)
- Ervaring met het opzetten van tijdelijke of experimentele infrastructuren
- Kennis van netwerkbeveiliging of VPN-oplossingen
- Ervaring met monitoring- of observabilitytools
- Interesse in nieuwe technologieën zoals autonome systemen, AI in simulatie of digitale twins
