Medication Technician

The Medication Technician provides medication services and direct resident care in a home-like, team-driven assisted living community. Responsibilities include managing the daily operation of the medication room and medication services as directed by the Health Services Director, processing physician orders in line with state regulations and the nurse practice act, administering and assisting with self-administration of routine and non-routine medications, completing simple treatments, maintaining accurate medication/treatment records, coordinating with pharmacies for orders and refills, reporting medication errors and changes in resident condition, communicating with physicians, pharmacies, residents and families, assisting with resident care activities, supporting dining room service, and participating in training and staff meetings. The role emphasizes dignity, independence, resident safety, and adherence to privacy and confidentiality standards, as well as following infection control practices and safety procedures. Education requirements include a high school diploma or GED; certifications related to medication pass, CPR, First Aid, and Food Handling as required by state regulations.
