Medication Technician (Medication Assistant)

Job Summary
The Medication Technician administers and/or assists with prescribed medications for residents under RN/LPN supervision, verifying resident identity, documenting drug details (name, dosage, route, time), observing ingestion, and reporting any reactions. Maintains medication records, monitors residents for responses (vital signs, effects), notifies appropriate personnel of changes, and follows medication policies. May prepare or restock medications, document why drugs aren’t ingested, and ensure accuracy of electronic medical records. Under Wellness Director guidance, performs related personal care tasks (bed baths, skin/hair/nail care, mobility assistance, feeding, dressing) and aids with daily activities. May assist with supplies from pharmacy, participate in annual medication training, and support resident activities and socialization. The role requires authorization by state authority, adherence to state guidelines for medication assistance in an assisted living setting, and may involve interactions with residents/families and potential use of the community’s social media or video recording policies.
Required Qualifications
- Authorized by the applicable state governing authority to assist or administer medications
- Meet requirements of state assisted living medication assistant guidelines
- Preferably experience in medication assistance with older adults
- Experience working with older adults
- Demonstrates organizational skills
- Mature, pleasant, friendly personality
