Medication Technician/Med Tech FT

Job Summary

Supervise self-administration of medication for residents while assisting with ADLs, meal service, and light housekeeping to encourage independence. Interact constantly with residents at all care levels, observe and report daily changes in health and emotional well-being, and ensure residents sign out when leaving the community. Serve residents during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, initiate leisure activities from the activity calendar, and maintain a clean, safe environment through daily general housekeeping and laundry duties. Respond promptly to resident requests, including phone calls from families, and comply with HIPAA regulations and established policies. Report safety hazards immediately and practice good body mechanics while supporting a dignified atmosphere for residents, families, and associates.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Medicine Technician (Med-Tech) certification
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Knowledge of word processing software
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records
  • One to two years related experience and/or training
  • Ability to stand

  • Ability to refrain from discussing resident care issues with families and visitors and refer all inquiries to immediate supervisor
  • Ability to know, understand, and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to assist with training of new employees
  • Ability to assist in mentoring new employees
  • Ability to take the initiative in work, seek out additional information, and offer solutions/suggestions without asking
  • Ability to take on special projects or assignments outside of regular duties willingly
  • Ability to provide a variety of housekeeping and/or laundry duties in maintaining the community in an orderly, clean, and sanitary condition
  • Ability to perform all other reasonable duties as assigned
