• •Experience in Assisted Living preferred
• •Must maintain certification in the state where you work if required
• •Satisfactory completion of state-required education/certificates/testing in relation to medication aides as well as the company medication aide skills competency checklist
• •Ability to read, write, and speak in English
• •Be in good physical health and free of communicable diseases
• •Lifting, bending, and pushing medication cart about residence is required
• •Must be able to lift 40 pounds
• •Completion of drug testing and criminal background check upon hire and upon request of supervisor
• •Must be available by phone 24/7 while on-call for staffing needs
• •Must be available for weekend shifts
• •Must be available for PRN shifts
• •Must be available for part-time work
• •Must be available for on-call rotation
• •Must be able to fill open shifts
• •Must be able to find coverage for open shifts
• •Must be able to conduct change of shift report with oncoming/outgoing shift personnel
• •Must be able to maintain security of medication cart and narcotic keys during entire shift
• •Must be able to conduct narcotic count at the beginning and end of every shift
• •Must be able to utilize safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility
• •Must be able to observe and report changes in residents' physical condition and cognitive/emotional status
• •Must be able to respond to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner
• •Must be able to understand and use Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Standard Precautions
• •Must be able to follow OSHA's Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens standard
• •Must be able to follow established infection control procedures
• •Must be able to follow hazardous communication rules
• •Must be able to follow other safety rules
• •Must be able to ensure cleanliness of residents' rooms
• •Must be able to report all violations of safety and sanitation rules to supervisor
• •Must be able to document provision of services on company forms
• •Must be able to operate designated medical equipment
• •Must be able to operate copy machines
• •Must be able to operate scan machines
• •Must be able to operate fax machines
• •Must be able to operate telephone
• •Must be able to plan the wellness schedule preferably 1 month in advance but no less than 2 weeks
• •Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation for staffing needs
• •Must be able to work collaboratively with peers and other team members
• •Must be able to maintain professional demeanor at all times when interacting with residents and families
• •Must be able to report any suspected or witnessed instances of verbal, mental, or physical abuse to licensed staff immediately
• •Must be able to assist residents with swallowing difficulty with eating
• •Must be able to provide assistance with activities of daily living such as with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene (includes shaving, oral care, nail care, hair care, foot care), toileting, eating, and ambulation/mobility
• •Must be able to administer or assist with or supervise the administration of medications according to the physician order on the medication administration record (MAR)
• •Must be able to document medications administered on the MAR in accordance with company policy
• •Must be able to check MARs immediately after administration and prior to end of shift to ensure documentation is complete and accurate
• •Must be able to conduct room checks and resident rounds
• •Must be able to monitor for environmental safety hazards
• •Must be able to assist in a variety of tasks related to dining (escort residents to dining room, assist with set-up and clean tables, serve meals, bus tables, etc.)
• •Must be able to attend and participate in staff meetings and mandatory in-services
• •Must be able to use tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations
• •Must be able to follow-up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns
• •Must be able to act as an ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other visitors
• •Must be able to demonstrate an appreciation of the heritage, values and wisdom of the residents, and an understanding of the aging process
• •Must be able to collaborate with associates in other departments to assure necessary care and services are provided
• •Must be able to participate in projects or committees as assigned
• •Must be able to perform related duties as assigned
• •Must be able to provide physical and psychosocial care to all residents in a manner that promotes dignity, choice, and individuality
• •Must be able to oversee the wellness staffing schedule
• •Must be able to report to the supervisor on duty as well as the Wellness Director
