Job Summary
Supervise client self-administration of medications, monitor medical concerns, and coordinate client medical care. Maintain accurate medication inventory, including controlled substance counts, and manage stock levels by ordering supplies and receiving deliveries. Document client medication events in the e-Mar system and maintain client files per HHSC and Joint Commission requirements. Ensure the medication room is clean, organized, and stored under proper temperature and security conditions. Monitor expiration dates, remove outdated medications, and assist with quality audits. Coordinate with local vendors such as pharmacies and labs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
- Close vision
- Distance vision
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of a medical assistant, pharmacy technician, or related program
- Experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, or substance abuse treatment setting
- Familiarity with medication handling, inventory systems, or pharmacy procedures
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic understanding of medications and medical terminology
- Ability to follow strict protocols and maintain confidentiality
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
