Medication Prior Authorization Specialist

Monitor prior authorization work queues and promptly obtain or review patient insurance information and eligibility verification to secure medication prior authorizations. Utilize online, fax, and telephony pathways to secure authorizations from insurance companies and document results in the medical record. Communicate updates to patients and providers, engage insurance representatives for clinical information, and collaborate with practice operations when attempts are unsuccessful. Escalate complex issues to the Supervisor and actively participate in performance improvement activities while maintaining working knowledge of internal systems and electronic medical records.
