Job Summary
Provides medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy, including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation; maintains the medication cart and storage room in a neat and orderly manner; ensures accurate medication counts and security of medications; may assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, transferring, mobility); engages residents in meaningful conversation and activities while delivering personal care and medication assistance; responds promptly to resident needs and requests; upholds Residents’ Rights and company policies; observes for changes in condition or adverse effects and reports to a licensed nurse; completes medication administration records and related documentation; assists in dining room during meals; encourages participation in activities and outings; may assist with caregiver housekeeping duties; believes in a team-oriented, employee-centric environment and opportunities for career development.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1-year of previous experience as a Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting (experience may depend on state requirements)
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members
- Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must complete Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required)
