Medication Assistant

Job Summary
Provides medication assistance for residents in accordance with state regulations and company policy including pouring, preparing, assisting with administration, and documentation; maintains the medication cart and storage room; ensures accurate medication counts and security of medication storage; may assist residents with activities of daily living; engages residents through conversation and activities; responds promptly to resident needs; upholds Residents’ Rights and company policies; observes changes in residents’ condition and reports to a licensed nurse; completes documentation such as MARs, incident reports, and change-of-condition reports; assists in dining during meals; encourages participation in activities; may assist with housekeeping responsibilities; requires Medication Aide training and CNA-related experience.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1-year of previous experience as a Caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for the elderly in a residential or long-term care setting
- Must be able to read, write and speak English to communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and other staff members
- Must be able to perform job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must complete Medication Aide training (and certification in states where required)
