Job Summary
Medication Assistant (11pm–7am) in a senior living setting. Responsibilities include providing medication reminders and administration per state guidelines, ordering/receiving meds and coordinating with the pharmacy, maintaining daily resident records in the digital platform (including incidents and observations), conducting room visits and checks, assisting with resident care, responding promptly to requests including emergency pull cords, monitoring safety and well-being, auditing medication distribution for self-administration, maintaining open communication with supervisors and peers, and performing additional duties as needed. Requires High School Diploma or related experience, CNA certification, medication certification per state guidelines, ESL medication competency upon hire, and First Aid/CPR as required. Must communicate effectively, be customer-service oriented, and work with a team; shift flexibility includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma; or two (2) to four (4) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Medication certification as required by state guidelines
- CNA Certification Required
- Must successfully complete the ESL medication competency upon hire and as required by state regulation at a minimum.
- First Aid and CPR Certification if required by state law and/or Company standards
- Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Able to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization
- Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
- Appearance is neat, clean, and according to dress code
- Able to demonstrate a high level of service delivery and hospitality; does what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction
- Able to clearly present information through the spoken word; reads and interprets complex information; speaks with residents, family members and customers; listens well
- Able to work cooperatively with a group of people to achieve goals and objectives
- Able to communicate with others in a warm and helpful manner while simultaneously building credibility and rapport
- Able to be tactful; maintains confidences and fosters an ethical work environment; prevents inappropriate behavior by coworkers; gives proper credit to others; handles all situations honestly
- Able to keep an open mind and change opinions based on new information; preforms a variety of tasks and changes focus quickly as demands change; manages transitions effectively from task to task; adapts to varying customer needs
- Ability to work varied schedules to include weekends, evenings, and holidays
