Medication Aide/Technician

Job Summary

Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to residents while recording dosages and times. Observe residents, document condition changes, and gather samples for analysis. Ensure equipment is inspected and cleaned, and uphold all health and safety standards and federal, state, and agency regulations. Coordinate with nurses to assist with resident care and medications, and respond to emergency call signals to identify resident needs. Protect confidential client information and seek guidance from nurses as needed to perform tasks safely. Provide customer service and assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) within the scope of state regulations. This role requires a Certified Caregiver with a state-approved Medication Aide course, minimum age of 18, and ability to work rotating weekends and holidays. Applicants must pass background checks and drug tests, and demonstrate strong emotional intelligence and listening skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a state approved Medication Aide course
  • Approval to assist with or administer oral and external medications per state regulations
  • Demonstrated competency to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (mandatory in certain states)
  • Minimum age of 18 years or the age required by state regulations, whichever is higher
  • Working experience alone, on a team, and on projects start to finish
  • Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills
  • Dedication to the medical field, especially towards working with the residents
  • Pass State and company background checks
  • Pass drug test
  • Ability to take Vital signs
  • Medication supervision (within the scope of the state regulations)
  • Ability to Read, write, speak and understand the English language
  • Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays

Desired Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred in states where not mandatory)
