Medication Aide (PRN)

Job Summary

Administer medications to residents under the direction of a licensed nurse and supervise medication distribution per established procedures. Perform assigned treatments, assist with activities of daily living including hygiene, toileting, feeding, and environment care, and provide redirection and intervention for resident behavior. Document all care, observations, and treatments accurately in compliance with facility policies and regulations. Maintain resident confidentiality, adhere to HIPAA standards, and ensure a professional appearance while supporting resident dignity and independence. This role requires lifting up to 75 lbs, standing and walking most of the day, and operates a motorized vehicle. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a CNA and Registered Medication Aide certification, and possess six months of assisted living experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • United States Citizenship or evidence of a valid Alien Work Permit
  • Certified as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in this state
  • Certified as Registered Medication Aide in this state
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide covered PCA services according to the person's PCA Care Plan
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle and have reliable transportation for work in the community
  • Ability to make appropriate professional judgments
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision
  • Occasional use of hands, wrists and fingers and lifting or moving up to 75 lbs may be required
  • Movements such as stooping, crouching, bending, kneeling, climbing and reaching are occasionally required
  • This position requires spending a majority of the workday standing and walking, with occasional sitting
  • Noise and/or level of distractions in the work environment is moderate

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least six months experience in an assisted living community preferred
