Job Summary
Certified Medication Technician at Benchmark Senior Living (Alexandria, VA) delivers care to residents in a warm, home-like environment. Responsibilities include communicating questions or discrepancies about medication administration to the Resident Care Director, reporting changes in residents’ mental or physical status, documenting supervision of self-administration in MAR, notifying RCD of PRN medication administration, and documenting PRN meds. The role emphasizes preventing elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Requires state Medication Technician license, competency reviews, CPR certification or attainable within six months, completion of a state-approved drug administration training, and certification as a nursing assistant or completion of CHHA/homemaker training; HS education preferred. Required Qualifications
- Must have state Medication Technician License and demonstrate competency in accordance with the state-approved protocol in drug administration
- Successfully complete medication technician competency review (as supervised by RN / RCD) quarterly
- CPR certification required or ability to obtain within six months of hire
- The Medication Technician must complete a state approved training course in drug administration and receive a certificate of satisfactory successful completion.
- Med-Techs will be evaluated on their competency by the RCD each quarter
- Must have current certification as a nursing assistant or have successfully completed the certified home health aide or homemaker/personal care homemaker training program
- High School education preferred
