Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse (Medically Monitored Crisis Detox) provides initial medical assessment within defined timeframes, manages withdrawal protocols (CIWA/COWS), administers prescribed medications, completes nursing assessments and documentation, participates in a multidisciplinary team, and ensures patient safety and care in a crisis detox setting. Responsibilities include admission/discharge coordination, monitoring treatment plans, and maintaining regulatory compliance (CARF/ASAM). Requires Tennessee LPN license, with preferred psychiatric nursing experience and Handle With Care CPR certification. Shift work including weekends/holidays; ability to work in a fast-paced detox unit and support emotionally vulnerable clients.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse Program and possess a current nursing license
- LPN with current Tennessee license and experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
- LPN certification as Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse preferred
- CPR certified or willing to become certified
- Handle With Care Training required
- Knowledge of substance abuse, chemical dependency and recovery
- Must be flexible with work scheduling
- Experience in psychiatric nursing preferred
- Experience in working with substance use/abuse and/or addiction populations preferred
- Strong documentation and charting skills
- Ability to perform shift work including weekends and holidays
- Ability to establish professional client boundaries and provide emotional support to clients
- Ability to determine and monitor withdrawal protocols (CIWA/COWS)
- Ability to administer prescribed medications and monitor patient response
- Ability to use computer for documentation and record keeping
