Job Summary
Technologist to join Labcorp in Phoenix performing wet-lab duties in FISH Cytogenetics. Responsibilities include determining specimen acceptability, performing routine and complex procedures per SOPs, operating and troubleshooting instrumentation, making technical testing decisions, preparing/evaluating reagents and controls, reporting accurate test results to support patient care, conducting preventive maintenance and quality control, replenishing supplies, assisting with specimen processing, and maintaining a safe work environment with proper PPE. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or MLS/Clinical Laboratory Science, 1+ year of clinical lab testing or MLS credential, ASCP or AMT certification, computer/LIS proficiency, strong attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team; color-vision screening and overtime flexibility may be needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR a MLS degree
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
