Job Summary
Conduct moderate and highly complex laboratory testing, analyzing specimens and reporting results according to protocol. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment while performing quality control and proficiency testing to ensure accurate, cost-effective results. Collect and process specimens, record patient data in Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems, and manage specimen integrity issues affecting testing outcomes. Identify problems impacting test performance, initiate corrective actions, and participate in quality assurance activities and safety audits. Report STAT, critical values, and discrepant results within established time limits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, with a minimum of two years of training and/or experience in nonwaived testing
- Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology, medical laboratory science, or clinical laboratory science, with a minimum of four years of training and/or experience in nonwaived testing
- ASCP Certified as medical lab technician or medical lab technologist or scientist
- 2-4 years of training and/or experience in nonwaived testing
