Job Summary
Medical Technologist (PRN, weekends) at Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital. Responsible for accurate blood collection, specimen labeling and transport, processing, storage, and testing across laboratory areas; ensures timely, reliable results with quality control and proper documentation; operates and troubleshoots instrumentation, performs calibration, and participates in problem-solving; maintains patient confidentiality and adherence to safety and regulatory policies; mentors staff, participates in staff meetings and continuing education; orientation provided for new employees; requires a Bachelor's degree ( Medical Technology preferred) and applicable national certification (MT/MLS/CLS) with up-to-date scope to perform complex clinical procedures; weekend PRN shifts with flexible scheduling and no mandatory overtime.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university; Medical Technology degree preferred
- MT (ASCP), MLS(ASCP) or CLS (NCA), or other applicable national certification. If this certification is not complete and/or current at time of hire, it must be done within one (1) year from date of hire
- Ability to perform complex, advanced clinical procedures and to effect appropriate modifications to existing procedures
- Ability to independently analyze, verify, and assess clinical and/or laboratory data
