Job Summary
Conduct performance and evaluation of complex chemical, microscopic, bacteriologic, immunologic, and immunochemical tests to support disease diagnosis and treatment. Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of body fluids using manual and automated instrumentation while accurately reporting results and troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment. Maintain laboratory equipment through instrument checks, quality control procedures, and calibration to meet established turnaround times for routine and STAT tests. Access, input, and retrieve information from the EMR, communicating with physicians or nurses regarding callback values or problems. Work independently in emergency situations, prioritizing work during heavy or light workload scenarios while maintaining a clean, disinfected work area.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology or an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience making the employee eligible to take the registry examination
- Registration by the American Society for Clinical Pathologists within one year of hire
- One year of Medical Technology training at an approved hospital
