Job Summary
Medical Technologist position at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in the Laboratory department. Performs a broad range of clinical laboratory tests with strict quality control, equipment maintenance, and timely reporting to healthcare providers. Responsibilities include performing waived to high-complexity tests, maintaining instrument logs and records, assisting with supervisor duties and immunohematology reviews, conducting preventive maintenance, managing supplies, performing venipuncture, and communicating with units and physicians. Requires Bachelor's degree in Science or related field and MT/MLS/CLS certification within 12 months, with CLIA high complexity testing eligibility; strong critical thinking, ability to work under stress, and adherence to safety and reliability standards are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Science or related field required within 90 days of employment
- MT - ASCP/AMT/CLS certification within 12 months of employment OR MLS/CLS certifications within 12 months of employment OR CLIA high complexity testing personnel qualifications
- CLIA high complexity testing qualifications
- Proficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy procedures
- Strong quality control and equipment maintenance skills
- Ability to work under direct supervision in a high-stress hospital environment
- Professional licensure/certification in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science
