Job Summary
Maintain and operate clinical laboratory equipment, perform quality control procedures and document workload and billing information. Receive and log patient specimens, centrifuge specimens, perform special chemistry tests, add reagents and prepare specimens per policy, identify chemical compositions, follow precautions, calculate results, notify care teams of critical values, record results in logs and computer systems, verify specimen-patient-test alignment, stay informed on new testing methods and instrumentation, and perform patient care with emphasis on patient safety. Shift focus to handling unforeseen workload changes and perform any other duties as needed to support the organization’s mission and values. Adhere to CLIA, OSHA, and Joint Commission standards; maintain short-term communications with staff and supervisors; understand adult vs pediatric reference ranges and panic value protocols; ensure accurate documentation for billing and laboratory records; demonstrate knowledge of testing methods and products.
