Job Summary
Evaluate, perform, and oversee various laboratory tests and procedures as assigned, while troubleshooting instruments and maintaining technical policies. Serve as the person in-charge of the department in the absence of the Lab Director, Medical Laboratory Specialist, or Manager. Prepare monthly quality summary reports, coordinate service visits, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards including TJC, FDA, CAP, and CLIA. Mentor and assess competency for other laboratory employees and students, and provide input into training, performance appraisals, and counseling sessions. Interact with hospital personnel, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and results while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and compassionate care. Evening shift including rotating weekends required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a biological science
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified CLS (ASCP), or Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM, or Cytotechnologist CT (ASCP)
- Two (2) years of pertinent experience in a high complexity laboratory
- Completion of Senior Medical Technologist skills competency within one year of accepting this position
- Schedule: Evening shift including rotating weekends
