Job Summary
Conduct a wide range of laboratory tests and interpret results to support disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Operate and maintain sophisticated lab equipment while performing quality control checks and troubleshooting instrumentation. Identify microorganisms, match blood for transfusions, and measure chemical levels in the body. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to provide essential diagnostic information. Ensure accuracy and reliability of test results through rigorous quality assurance procedures. Maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public while communicating clearly regarding laboratory procedures and results.
Required Qualifications
- 4 year/ Bachelor's Degree
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in medical Technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science
- Equivalent to Baccalaureate degree in medical Technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology or MT program
- One year of experience
- Internship of 12 months duration
- Scientist certification from ASCP or AMT (BB, C, H, MT/MLS, M, MB)
- Knowledge of current medical terminology
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment and testing
- Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests
- Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations
- Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, hospital staff and the public
- Ability to read and understand information about instrumentation in laboratory field
- Ability to follow written protocols
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Availability for weekends at Express Cares 8am-8pm if needed
Desired Qualifications
- NAACLS accredited Medical Technology or MT program
- One year of experience
