Medical Technologist (MLS/MT/MLT) - Core Lab

Job Summary
Perform accurate testing, recognizing abnormal or unusual results, and report findings timely in writing, verbally, by fax, or computer. Execute instrument checks, quality control, and routine equipment maintenance while identifying issues and initiating corrective action. Prepare samples for testing with proper labeling, preservation, and transport, and document all procedures per departmental policies. Notify appropriate personnel, including caregivers, of critical and corrected results per protocol. Organize priorities to complete assignments, multitask effectively, and engage in laboratory communications and staff meetings. Teach procedures to trainees and assist with supply inventory, purchasing, and compliance plans. Maintain annual competency to perform lab testing.
Required Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics
- successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Science program
- BS/BA program in related science that meets requirements for certification
- MT/MLS (ASCP) or MT/MLS (AMT) certification
- (ASCP) categorical certification
- An associate degree from an accredited college/university in Medical Laboratory Science or a related science
- 60 semester hours of academic credit
- 6 semester hours of chemistry
- 6 semester hours of biology
- graduation from a military medical laboratory specialist program
- MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) certification
- All students who will have completed a NAACLS accredited program within 6 months and would be eligible for national board exam
