Job Summary
Conduct specimen collection, handling, processing, and test analyses while adhering to laboratory procedures and quality control policies. Document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations, and maintenance logs. Identify indicators impacting test performance or reporting to make corrections or notify the Lab Supervisor. Order, receive, and distribute laboratory stock as needed in the laboratory and treatment area. Adhere to safety policies defined by Patient First and OSHA while providing positive customer service and fostering teamwork. Complete duties on associated checklists and perform other tasks as directed.
Required Qualifications
- Employee must be at least 18 years of age
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Keyboarding experience
- Minimum 60 semester hours from a regionally accredited college, including chemistry, biology, and medical laboratory techniques, or an Associate degree in chemistry, biology or related science
- Completion of clinical rotations in the areas of microbiology, urinalysis, chemistry and hematology
- Fifty week military Medical Laboratory Procedures course and meet qualifications for military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist
Desired Qualifications
- One year of clerical experience
- One year of clinical experience
- Registered Medical Technologists (M.T.) or Medical Laboratory Technicians (M.L.T.) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other recognized certification agency of medical laboratory professionals
- Registry-eligible technologists
- Medical candidates with at least 1-2 years of experience in a physician's office or hospital setting
