Job Summary
Night-shift Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician at Lehigh Valley Health Network performs high/moderate/waived laboratory testing in the assigned department using advanced instrumentation, with independent judgment and minimal supervision. Responsibilities include confirming/verifying/reporting results, monitoring quality control, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting instrument or procedural issues, and providing orientation/training to new employees or students. Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field (or CLIA grandfathered pathways) and less than 1 year of experience with a clinical laboratory internship. Strong analytical, mathematical, and data interpretation skills, along with capability to operate laboratory information systems, are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree Medical Technology or related science field from an accredited institution
- must meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist regulations or HEW (grandfathered) proficiency
- Less than 1 year of experience and a clinical laboratory internship
- Demonstrated technical skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific documents
- Ability to read, understand, and speak basic English
- Demonstrated ability to use/learn computer systems
- Demonstrated dependability/flexibility in meeting scheduling needs
- Ability to apply common mathematical skills
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
