Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability according to established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures per departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality while making technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures, identify and replenish bench supplies, and assist with specimen processing as needed. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. This role supports Labcorp's global diagnostics network in Overland Park, KS, requiring a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science, one year of clinical laboratory experience, and ASCP or AMT certification.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- OR an MLS degree
- Proficient with computers
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
