Job Summary
Perform and document test results, quality control, and maintenance procedures according to technical policy while troubleshooting instruments as needed. Oversee assigned laboratory areas, prepare monthly quality summary reports, and coordinate service visits to ensure compliance with TJC, FDA, CAP, and CLIA standards. Mentor staff and students on technical procedures, quality control, and performance improvement while participating in mock inspections. Evaluate employee performance, contribute to training and appraisals, and interact with physicians, patients, and hospital personnel regarding specimens and orders. Maintain regulatory compliance and promote safety, cost efficiency, and compassionate patient care within the evening shift rotation including weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a biological science
- Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified CLS (ASCP), or Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM, or Cytotechnologist CT (ASCP)
- Two (2) years of pertinent experience in a high complexity laboratory in the assigned/specified area
- Completion of Senior Medical Technologist skills competency within one year of accepting this position
- Schedule: Evening shift including rotating weekends
