MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST

Perform high complexity, routine, and specialized clinical lab tests for patient diagnosis and treatment using independent judgment. Process specimens, analyze results, and report findings to physicians while documenting corrective actions for any deviations from established performance specifications. Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, maintain quality control records, and manage reagent preparation and instrument calibrations. Monitor incomplete collection lists via the LIS, review abnormal patient reports, and assist in phlebotomy coverage and student orientation. Maintain work areas, handle biohazard waste, and communicate instrument performance or sample issues to the next shift. Requires a current Tennessee State Medical Technologist license and color blindness test pass.
