Job Summary
Perform high complexity, routine, and specialized clinical lab tests for patient diagnosis and treatment, utilizing independent judgment to consult physicians on results. Execute specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting while documenting corrective actions for deviations from performance specifications. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; perform quality control, calibrations, and proficiency testing. Monitor incomplete collection lists, review abnormal reports, and disinfect work areas. Handle biohazard wastes, assist with pneumatic tube specimen distribution, and act as a resource for phlebotomy. Assist in orienting students and new employees, prepare reagents, and communicate shift handover information regarding samples or instrument performance.
Required Qualifications
- Current Tennessee State License as a Medical Technologist
- Must successfully pass color blindness test
