Job Summary
Perform high complexity, routine, and specialized clinical lab tests for patient diagnosis and treatment while using independent judgment to consult physicians on results. Follow procedures for specimen handling, processing, analysis, and reporting; document corrective actions for deviations and maintain records of proficiency testing. Adhere to quality control policies, calibrate instruments, and notify supervisors of out-of-control situations or unresolved problems. Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, prepare reagents, and monitor the LIS for patient accessioning. Assist in student orientation, review abnormal reports, maintain work areas, and manage biohazard wastes. Plan work for maximum productivity, communicate shift handoffs, and act as a phlebotomy resource if trained.
Required Qualifications
- Current Tennessee State License as a Medical Technologist
