Job Summary
Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) role performing tests across clinical laboratory sections under supervision, with emphasis on Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Coagulation. Requires ASCP-certified or eligible MT/MLT, training in Corpus Christi, TX, and eligibility for clinical internship. Evening shift 2:30pm–11:00pm with weekend/holiday rotation and disaster-team participation. Responsibilities include handling automated/manual assays, reporting results, maintaining safety and infection-control standards, ensuring specimen integrity, and coordinating with physicians and nurses. Requires staying current with technology, reagents, and regulatory guidelines. Education paths include AS (MLT) or BS (MT) with internship; MT/MLT ASCP certification within one year of hire. Location: Driscoll Health System, Edinburg, TX area.
Required Qualifications
- MLT or MT – ASCP certified or ASCP eligible
- Generalist experience preferred, with strength in Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Coagulation (preferred but not required)
- Training in Corpus Christi, TX is required
- Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician: MLT (ASCP) within one year from date of hire; Medical Technologist: MT (ASCP) within one year from date of hire
- Education: Medical Laboratory Technician: AS degree with internship; Medical Technologist: BS with internship
