Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability and perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation while making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Document preventive maintenance, quality control procedures, and replenish bench supplies as necessary. Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and assisting with specimen processing when needed. This third-shift role at Ascension Columbia St. Mary's Hospital - Ozaukee Campus requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science, one year of clinical laboratory testing experience, and ASCP or AMT certification. A $5000 sign-on bonus is available for external applicants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
- 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
- ASCP or AMT certification
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Desired Qualifications
- 1 year or more of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist generalist (hematology, coagulation, and urinalysis)
- 1 year or more of experience in blood bank
