Job Summary
Determine specimen acceptability per established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures. Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation while documenting preventive maintenance and quality control procedures. Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, then report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary and assist with specimen processing when needed. Maintain a safe work environment wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. This role operates in a high-volume, production-based environment at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital - Franklin, offering flexible part-time hours with 1st shift rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
- 1st shift with every 3rd weekend rotation
- From 6AM - 2:30PM OR 9:30AM - 6:30PM
Desired Qualifications
- ASCP or AMT certification
- 3 or more months of clinical core (hematology, coagulation, urinalysis) laboratory rotations/training
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems
- Proficient with computers
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
