Job Summary
Conduct night shift coverage on the Medical Surgical Unit from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, managing patients with COPD, sepsis, CVA, and post-op surgical cases including hips, knees, and bowel resections. Monitor telemetry patients with central tech support and administer common drips such as Lasix and Heparin. Float to additional units or locations as needed, taking full patient assignments including ICU RNs when competent. Maintain a 12-hour shift schedule every other weekend with no call requirement, working three shifts weekly. Requires 24 months of Medical Surgical experience with 12 months in the last 36 months, an Illinois license, and BLS certification. Driver's license required for submission.
Required Qualifications
- 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months
- 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years)
- Illinois license
- Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- No call requirement
- May be required to work every other holiday depending on schedule
- Block scheduling may be accommodated if possible
- Every other weekend requirement must still be met
- May float to another floor if competent to do so
- When floating, will always take a full patient assignment, including ICU RNs
- Driver's license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
