Job Summary
Conduct night shift coverage on a Medical Surgical Unit specializing in neuroscience, stroke, and spine surgery with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:5–6. Titrates heparin drips based on PTT and manages patients with diagnoses including seizure, brain tumor, and head injury. Float in rotation with general unit staff and take full teams when assigned outside the general unit. Requires 24 months of experience, including 12 months in Medical Surgical and 12 months in Trauma Level 1. No call, every other weekend, and 13-week contract.
Required Qualifications
- 24 months of experience
- 3 months worked in the last 12 months
- 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience
- 12 months within the last 36 months
- Travel experience
- Illinois license
- Trauma Level 1 experience
- Previous travel experience
- No first-time travelers
- Prior experience working on a dedicated neuro unit
- Heparin gtt experience
- Driver's license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale)
- At least one reference from the same unit/specialty
- 2 Charge/Lead references from within the last 12 months
