Job Summary
Conduct medical surgical nursing care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, ortho, and oncology. Read and interpret telemetry strips using Phillips monitors while managing BiPAP, CPAP, and aerosol administration for non-vented patients. Administer EKGs and coordinate with in-house pharmacy and IV teams. Maintain a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio during night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) with every other weekend rotation. This assignment requires 24 months of medical surgical experience, an active West Virginia license, and BLS certification. Candidates must live over 50 miles from the facility and may float to critical care units.
Required Qualifications
- 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months
- 24 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months within the last 36 months (3 years)
- Experience with Epic is required
- Candidates must have a West Virginia license or compact license
- COVID vaccination required after submission
- Religious and medical declinations accepted
- 24 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine
- 24 months gap required between for Travel at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - WVU Medicine
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Must live >50 miles from facility
- Travel only, local not allowed
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
