Job Summary
Provides direct patient care in a medical/surgical setting under supervision, performing tasks such as vital signs monitoring, venipuncture, 12-lead ECG, oxygen administration, dressing changes, and assisting with ambulation, feeding, and personal care; supports nursing staff to maintain continuity of care, handles patient transfers and ensures orderly care and comfort within the medical/surgical unit.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting
- or possession of thirty (30) semester credit hours from a school of professional nursing
- or completion of a course of study in a school of practical nursing approved by the NYS Education Department
- or completion of a certificate program as a medical assistant, medical office assistant or closely related program from a college or university or post-high school institution
