Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN)

Provides nursing care on a Neuro-focused Med-Surg unit, assessing patients’ physical and psychosocial condition, developing and evaluating plans of care, and coordinating with the healthcare team to achieve outcomes. Responsibilities include supervising non-RN personnel, acting as charge nurse, and serving as a preceptor to new staff. Department focuses on oncology nursing excellence and care for solid tumor cancers, with specialties including Neuro Surgery and Neuro procedures; care for patients undergoing chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies. Requires BSN preferred and CT RN license; BLS required. Demonstrates skill in neuro assessment, airway management for neuro patients, tracheostomy suctioning, ventilator management, and education for patients and families. Emphasis on multidisciplinary cancer care and the Tia Teaching Program. Locations include Smilow Ambulatory Multispecialty Department with Neuro Surgery services; Midway, TX.
