Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (Med-Surg RN)

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising patient care on a nursing unit; provides supervision of non-RN personnel, acts as charge nurse, and may work on other units as assigned. Responsibilities include ongoing patient assessments, developing and documenting individualized care plans, coordinating with the healthcare team, educating patients and families, precepting new staff, and ensuring high-quality service. Requires oncology experience within Smilow Ambulatory Multispecialty Department context, neuro-focused skills (neuro assessment, airway management, tracheostomy, ventilator care), and familiarity with cancer treatment modalities; practice includes pharyngeal/suctioning procedures and Halo brace care. Education emphasis on BSN and computer literacy with electronic health records; CT RN license and BLS certification are required.
