Job Summary
Provide medical-surgical nursing care on an oncology-focused unit, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans; supervise non-RN personnel, function as charge nurse, and serve as a preceptor. Demonstrates competency in neuro patient care, including neuro assessment, airway management, and specialized procedures such as suctioning for pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy care. Manage care for patients with trachs and those on ventilators; care for patients undergoing neuro procedures; apply knowledge of the Tia teaching program and oncology-focused nursing practices. Requires BSN preferred and CT RN license with BLS; supports collaboration with healthcare team, patient and family education, and discharge planning, while ensuring high-quality service and adherence to department policies.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred
- Valid State Of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
- BLS Required
- Proficient in use of Computer Software to include Electronic Patient Records
- Ability to use Internet for literature searches regarding care for patients
