Job Summary
Provide medical-surgical nursing care on a neuro-oncology unit under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Develops, communicates, and documents plans of care; coordinates with the healthcare team; serves as preceptor and charge nurse; demonstrates competency in neuro assessments, airway management, caring for tracheostomy patients, suctioning, ventilator care, and care for patients with halo braces. Responsibilities include education planning for patients and families, discharge planning, and adherence to unit policies. Oncology-focused nursing with expertise in neuro procedures and cancer treatment support, within Smilow Ambulatory Multispecialty Department.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- BSN preferred
- Valid State Of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
- BLS Required
Desired Qualifications
- BSN preferred
- Oncology nursing experience preferred
- Neuro surgery nursing experience preferred
- Suctioning experience
- Ventilator care experience
- Educator/Preceptor experience
