Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, manage central venous catheter access, and act as a consultant to external healthcare personnel. Coordinate treatments with physicians across multiple hospitals and evaluate medication compatibility for procedure safety. Assemble, restock, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with rotating on-call duties. Requires current state RN licensure, CPR certification, and a valid driver's license. No prior apheresis experience required; comprehensive training provided.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
