Medical Surgical Nurse

Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Assess patient status before and during treatments using the nursing process, coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments, and evaluate medication compatibility for safety. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness. Act as a consultant to external health care personnel and explain procedures to patients and families. Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week with rotating on-call requirements. Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse and CPR certification required.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination status (fully vaccinated or approved exemption process initiated)
